New Polish government of Donald Tusk

  • The Polish Sejm (parliament) granted a vote of confidence to the government led by Donald Tusk, the leader of the Civic Platform party.

  • Tusk's government received support from 248 MPs, with 201 voting against.

  • This follows after Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki's government failed to secure a vote of confidence. Tusk's exposition, delivered on Tuesday, discussed various topics including support for Ukraine and proposed pay raises for public sector workers.

  • The new Council of Ministers under Tusk's leadership is set to be sworn in by President Andrzej Duda.
